mary kate on weeds

i thought her character was positively bewildering. it's like they wanted to remover her as far as possible from the disney channel clone she'd become. further, i was left asking myself how they chose mary kate over ashley. did they both go to the audition and mary kate actually was a better actor than her sister? or did the casting director of weeds call mary kate's agent and say, "we love what we see from your client; that ashley is a dead weight on camera."and for that matter, how do we know it's mary kate and not ashley? did they interchange them throughout the episode and we had no idea? zhi and i concluded that they cobbled together the working parts of each twin to create one working olsen whose job is to dry hump silas on a jungle gym with a mouthful of weed smoke.
